Santa Monica Pier Concerts: The Final 4

The Santa Monica Pier Concerts series is winding down.

Just 4 more free concerts on the sand under the stars remain - including a night with the legendary Jefferson Starship on August 27.

Spread your blanket in the sand early for this collaboration of old and new musicians including Jefferson Airplane founders Paul Kantner and Marty Balin, both of whom were crucial in developing the renowned "San Francisco sound" that changed the course of pop music forever.

The remaining lineup of performers includes:

August 20: Ariel Pink with the Mynabirds;

September 3: Rebirth Brass Band with Miles Mosley;

September 10: Tune-Yards with Avid Dancer.

These free concerts draw thousands of rock faithful and Santa Monica locals - and it's a definite don't miss if you'll be in town!

Santa Monica Restaurants with a View

Santa Monica restaurants are celebrated for their diversity of cuisine styles and dedication to good eating.

After all, they have to keep people like Kate Hudson, Dennis Quaid, Rhianna, and Jake Gyllenhaal coming back, right?

There are so many great Santa Monica restaurants - but only a dozen or so that also serve up a great view of Santa Monica's beaches and the Santa Monica Pier to go along with those great eats. (You can get a list of pier restaurants here.)

And perhaps best of all when you dine at one of these scenic Santa Monica restaurants?

You'll be close enough to the beach to walk the shoreline afterward.

Whether you're craving the freshest seafood and sushi or the finest fish tacos or filet mignon, these Santa Monica restaurants with a view can be counted on to please the palate and serve up stellar ocean views.

Santa Monica Activities for August

There are more Santa Monica activities to tackle than just laying in the hot sun with a refreshing drink and devouring fish tacos.

Though that is a lovely place to start and one of my favorite ways to spend the day. Both sand and ocean are clean and beautiful, providing the basics for sumptuous day of beach-walking, swimming, and surfing.

Besides sunning and swimming, you can get the blood flowing again biking, surfing, parasailing, paddle surfing, playing basketball, tennis ... the list goes on and on.

In short: There are plenty of Santa Monica sports to choose from. Virtually any outdoor activities you love, you'll love even more doing them in Santa Monica. you'll love doing them even more this August in Santa Monica.

Enjoy these final weeks of summer in Santa Monica!!!

And please come back often to check out what's new at Santa Monica Beaches!
