Copa d Oro Santa Monica

Copa d Oro is just off the Third Street Promenade on Broadway - a convenient place to stop and recharge with craft cocktails after a long day of shopping.

It is also happens to be one of best happy hour spots in Santa Monica, and is a great destination for Friday and Saturday nights, when you'll find it a classy yet laid-back lounge reliably swamped and DJs spinning into the wee hours.

Copa d' Oro consistently draws an interesting mix of friendly people.

The name is a nod to the California poppy, which Spanish explorers referred to as "cups of gold" (copa de oro), but the real gold for Santa Monica drinkers might just be a quiet, hip bar that skews toward a more literate, well-traveled crowd.

A Chill, Friendly Crowd with an Old-School Vibe

Copa d' Oro is a good place to hang out with friends and listen to some pumping old school beats from the DJ in the corner with a chill, friendly crowd.

In fact, the bar caters to a slightly older demographic that is "...maybe a little more educated, a little bit more traveled, a little bit more literate," explains the understated lounge's founder, Jonathan Chu.

"My friends are always complaining that they have nowhere to go for drinks, so I opened Copa to help fill that void," Chu says.

The 2,000-square-foot space usually hums with a post-work assortment of smartly dressed urban professionals intently eyeing the craft cocktails made with organic fruits and herbs in a low-lit, intimate setting.

You can order the Imperfect Manhattan, Caipirinha, Moscow Mule, and Carribbean Collins for $5 each, as well as mojitos, Tommy's margarita, Pimms cup, and more for $6 during happy hour, which runs 4 p.m. to 8 p.m highly, and all night on Mondays.
