Ice at Santa Monica will not be returning for the 2021-2022 season

Holiday Ice  Skating  at  Santa Monica

In January of 2021, the electrical infrastructure at the surface parking lot that serves as the home of Ice at Santa Monica was damaged substantially.

Downtown Santa Monica (DTSM), Inc. has been working with Southern California Edison and the City of Santa Monica to obtain funding and permits to perform repairs and purchase replacement parts.

These replacement parts will not be available in time for the start of the 2021-2022 Ice at Santa Monica season.

DTSM will repair the electrical infrastructure as soon as replacement parts arrive and looks forward to welcoming skaters back in the fall of 2022.

Downtown Santa Monica and the Third Street Promenade will host the official City of Santa Monica Holiday Tree and Promenade Menorah lightings this holiday season. DTSM is collaborating with the City of Santa Monica to host other community events at the Ice parking lot and will be announcing additional exciting holiday activities soon.

About Ice at Santa Monica

Every holiday season downtown Santa Monica brings a little ice - and ice skating - to our beachside community, transforming the corner of 5th Street and Arizona Avenue into a winter wonderland.

Known as ICE at Santa Monica, the 8,000-square-foot outdoor ice skating rink returns on November 1, 2019, and continues through January 20, 2020.

Skating by the beach is designed to offer residents and visitors alike a little taste of winter without the bite. (Who can argue with that?!)

Located just off the 3rd Street Promenade, it's a great place to celebrate the holidays, hang out with friends and family, or perhaps throw a festive seasonal party in a private event cabana.
