Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel

The Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel sits beach-side on Ocean Avenue, with stellar views of the city of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Pier and Santa Monica beaches.

Its prime location is within walking distance of several of the city's top attractions, including the Third Street Promenade and Main Street, home to myriad local shops, restaurants, and popular attractions.

No matter how many times I've been here, I still love the ethereal feeling I get the moment I step through the revolving door and into the 8-story atrium lobby topped by an enormous glass skylight.

Loews Santa Monica is Pet- and Kid-Friendly

Loews holds the distinction of being one of Santa Monica's premier pet-friendly and family-friendly resorts.

(It's home to Loews Loves Kids, a program complete with custom-designed activities, toys, and family fitness programs; and Loews Loves Pets.) The latter includes a special pet room service menu, placemat, water bowls, treats and more for a $100 daily fee.

There's a kids menu poolside and from room service (24-hours); cribs are free, and the hotel will also childproof your room in advance upon request. Babysitting (four-hour minimum) can be arranged through the concierge as well.

You definitely won't lack for things to do here: You can take a fitness class (indoors or out) at the award-winning fitness center, relax at the eco-friendly Ocean Spa featuring organic body and facial treatments, or chill beside the oceanfront pool.

The beach is just a few steps away, where you can rent bikes, rollerblades and more.

Home of Ocean & Vine Restaurant

If you're hungry for California farmers-market inspired cuisine, Ocean & Vine restaurant is the place to make reservations for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. (Spendy, though.)

There's also Sushi at Sunset, an ocean-view sushi bar linked to Ocean and Vine; for casual outdoor eats, the Blue Streak is the place to go for poolside burgers and fries.

Guest Rooms with Ocean-View Balconies

The hotel has 342 guest rooms (including 19 suites), each with a step-out balcony or furnished patio with a view of the pool or the Pacific; a 42-inch flat-panel TV; plush bedding with pillow top mattresses and 300-thread-count linens, free Wi-Fi, and oversized baths stocked with high-end toiletries; free in-room coffee and daily newspaper.

All Pets Are Welcome - Any Type, Any Size. With the Loews Loves Pets program, all pets (dogs, cats, snakes, etc.) are welcome for a one-time fee. Rumor has it one guest once brought a tiger.

No weight restrictions on pets, either.

A Loew's tag, treat, and bowl of Fiji water welcome visiting canines in the room; the pet room service menu includes such savory offerings as chopped beef with eggs and brown rice, and the hotel has a brochure detailing nearby walking routes, vets, and groomers.

Need a cat bed, leash, collar, rawhide bone, catnip, or a litter box? Ring up the concierge, and they'll be brought right up.
