Santa Monica Halloween Events for Families

There's a slight fall chill in the air, and brightly decorated pumpkins are popping up on doorsteps seemingly overnight.

There's no mistaking it - it's Halloween season in Santa Monica, where fun family events are at their festive best.

From pumpkin decorating and trick-or-treating on glitzy Montana Avenue to a costume parade for pets, Santa Monica Halloween events offer something for everyone in the family.

Here's a look at upcoming Halloween activities:

Oct. 5 - 27:  "Absolutely Halloween"

Santa Monica Playhouse's production of "Absolutely Halloween!" is an absolutely don't miss Halloween theatre treat for the entire family.

Now a Halloween tradition, Absolutely Halloween is the heart-warming musical tale of the aptly named "Candy," a sweet young girl who learns some surprising lessons about life, laughter and sugar, from a delightful array of colorful costume-come-to life characters who take her on a magical All Hallow's Eve adventure to save Halloween for one more year.

As the legend goes, every year on Halloween, one unique soul is chosen to save the Halloween world from disappearing - who knows, maybe next year, it might be you!

As the witching hour approaches, youngsters (and parents, too) aid the residents of the Halloween world in completing magical spells, happily helping to save All Hallow's Eve ... until next year.

The show runs October 5 - 27, Saturdays at 2 p.m. and Sundays at 12.30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults; $12.50 for children 12 and under.
